Good Hotel to take pre-teen??

We are familiar with Puerto Vallarta and NuVallarta, have been going there for 13 years but want to take a quick 5 day and take a 9 yr old grandaughter down, have not paid much attention to what hotels are good for kids. Melia is all booked out for April.
Any other good suggestions, probably in the hotel zone, marina area or some area of downtown. Not interested in the party scene.
What about BuenaVenture? Anyone been there with kids? Thanks.

 Consider the Playa de Oro located next to the marina. Reasonable prices, good location and plenty of pool related activities to keep the kid occupied. Very nice staff.

Just got back in mid february. Stayed at the Premiere right next door to the Buenaventura. Buenaventura has lots of pool activities, and seems to be just right for kids. Highly recommended for people with children.
