Grand Velas Questions

Has anyone stayed at the Grand Velas? Is it as nice as it seems? I need any info you may have. My husband is a HUGE hotel snob and I need to make sure he isnt going to be disappointed. He wanted to stay at the 4 seasons but I talked him out of it.

ok here goes,

Grand Velas ( different than club velas and vellas vallarta) is a very posh resort. the rooms are very spacious, and decorated with teak and marble. the resort is an all inclusive that usually turns a lot of folks off to it. They offer dinning in three 5* eateries, room service, and pool side lunches. while there are nearly 200 rooms the resort never seems crowded ( i hear that it is by design) the timeshare sharks tend not to group nor attack you. The service is first rate and at times over the top. If you dont see it ask for it and youll most likely get it.

The spa on site is incredible, with the velas ritual included in the allin clusive fee. they offer a triple tiered pool that disappears into the bay along wiht a swim up bar and truely tasteful land scaping. While the resort is quiet and laid back, they offer something for eveyone.

No, Mogens, Hotel Eloisa; Buenatura; Playa Los Arcos......They sound like (and are) Mexico. Grand Velas is like something you would expect in New York City around Times Square. Chuck

I agree with Chuck, the Grand Velas looks more like a hotel out of Bali (with all the teak) than Mexico. Definitely one of the least \"Mexican\" hotels in the area. (IE: when I say Mexican, I mean no bright colors in the rooms, as their color scheme is quite subdued, lots of imported teak and fabrics from Indonesia, marble/granite flooring and bar area. No talavera...no azuelos.)
Their lobby is beautiful..in fact the whole hotel is beautiful...

They have a pillow menu with a choice of eight different types of pillows.
I agree their spa is gorgeous, the best on the bay! If you are not staying there you can do a day pass for the spa which includes installations and a lunch and drinks...salon, massage, etc. is extra and charged per service.

Even their standard room is beautiful. I love the insuite bathroom and the mini bars, plus the patio furniture is very nice and comfy. All in all my top pick for luxury hotel on the bay and the restaurants are wonderful.

Chuck thinks Mexico has to be loud colors and a bit rundown to be Mexico... well, not all people look at Mexico in that cliché way.

The Grand Velas is awesome! I have stayed there two times and love it. The only complaint is that Nuevo Vallarta is a ways from town. There are a lot of great restaurants in Bucerias just north of the Grand Velas. The food and services are outstanding at the Grand. We go with a group to PV every year and part of the fun is going out at night and enjoying the people and sights of PV, so we all have agreed to enjoy the beauty and cleanliness of the Grand V and still go into town or Bucerias at night. We use the all-inclusive as a convenience during the day. I can not imagine anyone not loving the Grand Velas!
