Hotel Tropicana, good, bad, or ugly?

My wife, baby daughter and I are looking at staying at the Hotel Tropicana in the Romantic zone. I was wondering if anyone here had stayed at the hotel, and if they had an opinion about it.

We are looking for a hotel that is near the authentic part of Puerto Vallarta. We are not interested in staying in the hotel zone at all.

Stay at the Trop every year. Rooms are bsic but the location is the best in PV. My opinion.

nice 3 star hotel , all the great restaurants on your doorsteps . , close to fincenco for cheap brakfast or lunch . 2 eggs, bacon or sausage , toast & coffe 2.00 US $$$$

They have renovated the old tower and updated many of the rooms, I do not think they have completed all renovations, but they should be done soon.

Thanks for all of the input!!!!! Location is very important to me because I would much rather walk with my family to the local dining areas, than have to pack them in a car or taxi and drive.

I think I will stay in the new tower at the tropicana!

If you are not bringing a \"pack and play\" you may want to contact the Tropicana to reserve a crib in advance as there may be other babies vying for a bed:)
I think you will be very happy there, best bang for the buck in the area!

LOVE THIS HOTEL!! I have been there 3 times and going back again in Feb. Clean rooms, helpful staff, nice pool. BASIC but WOW what a location!
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Will be there in February for the 4th time in about a year. Good basic hotel, excellent location, good staff and pretty darn clean. Would not hesitate recommending to anyone looking for a reasonable 2 1/2 star place to stay. Enjoy yourself.
