Hurricane

Hello, We Go to PV every year. We were there last year in Jan. We stay at the Villa Varadero it is next to the Paradise Village. It was just a small hotel we sure loved it. We were wondering if anyone has been down that way since the Hurricane? Is the Beach still great. It was the BEST Beach we have been on so we are going back there. The First time we stayed at Plaza Las Gloria then Velas Vallarta and this will be our second time at the Villa Varadero. If any one knows the condition of that Beach we sure would like to know. Weather in November is wonderful. Some rain but the water is warm. We may go down in March also, (to Lindi). We always stay at Los Tules for the last 14 years. In June the construction was just about complete, except for trying to bring back the beach. I really miss that. They will build the jetty out again so the sand will come in and build the beaches back up. Our condo right by the restaurant was done, but not decorated as complete as before. The restaurant has a new look and is good. We love Aludlto, he has become a good friend of ours. March is cool sometimes, so swimming may be optional.

We stayed at the Occidental Grand in Nuevo Vallarta in May and all appeared to be back to normal. Our resort had some work on the wall by the beach left and the palms along the wall were no longer there but other wise looked like it always had. If you were there in January 2003 you should see no change the Hurricane was in Oct. 2002

Stayed in PV in february of 03. Most hotels seemed to have recovered from the hurricane by then. A major exception was Los Tules. Most pools were still closed, the hot tub was closed, and it was like vacationing in a construction zone. Many first floor rooms were under repair, and it seemed that there was absolutely no hurry to complete reconstruction. We made reservations 5 months ahead, paid for an ocean view room and were given a room overlooking a washed out gargen. After staying there for the past 5 years, we stayed only 1 night and forced the management to transfer us to the Qualton, which was very pleasant. This has always been my favorite hotel in PV, but after the way we were treated last year, I would recommend that you stay away.
