Is Riu open or not?????

No it is not open at this time. About 1 more week or so.

Thanks for the update. Our travel agent is working on making sure that the postponement will not affect pre-booked trips but otherwise gives a big thumbs up on booking mid July - apparently nice hotel chains like the Riu go \"all out\" when they first open so that the word gets around. According to her perspective, it is one of the best times to go!

- 6/21. Ist time to Puerto Vallarta. Anyone know what the dress code in the restaurants refers to?
Shorts not acceptable?

Shorts is Ok for buffet but not for a la carte restaurants that need a reservation. Khaki pants and collared shirt for men and a sundress for women is the norm. Have a great time and post a message to the bd. upon your return to let us know what you thought!

Since my wife and I are scheduled to go there
next week, we called the Riu on Sunday and they said they were definitely open. Dont know for how long but they claim to be open, at least as of the 26th. I dont have the number with me right now but there is a thread about the Riu Jalisco with the phone number on mytravelboard.com

Riu is definately open! I just returned from staying there for a week. It opened on May 15th and is absolutely beautiful. Even the gardens are
finished. All resturants and bars are open and the
beach is great.

Give us some more particulars, please. Seems a lot of folks are booked there with little info. My ? as above-what does the dress code entail. Any snorkeling there (at the hotel)? Kinds of food? Did you do any tours? etc Thanks.
