Just got back: General Info

Thanks so much for the info David! We were just wondering about the beach area on the hotel zone cuz we had heard that there was no beach. Glad to hear that there is some left, especially by the Qualton. We will be there at the end of January & there will be 12 of us. Some of them were getting a bit ancy on the beach situation. I will certainly copy your report & send it to them. Hopefully, it will put their mind at ease and they can concentrate on packing. Oh ya, we have to get thru Christmas first. Thanks again!

Thanks for info. We are staying at Las Palmas on Feb 5 for a week. I see on this site they say feb 15 opening but on another it is Jan 20. Had my travel agent call to check on hotel. They assured them they would be open on Jan. 19. Will they be up and going in four and a half weeks? Hope so. Are they rebuilding Beach Bar and Restaurants? What is is your opinion as far as Opening Date? Realistic?

Stormin; if they said they would be open on the 19th they are smellin too much of that paper mill that hangs over you and Bonnie! They were rebuilding the restaurants. They had big machinery out rebuilding the breakwater which was washed away and is partly all over the beach. Much of the sea wall is broken and hangin on the beach right now.

BTW: we could not believe the number of Canadians we saw and met! Huge tour groups with something called Air TransAt.

hey David,thanks for the info on the hotel zone.Did you happen to see the Sungetaway hotel(BBG).IS it 100 percent up and running,how is the beach? Any info on this hotel would be greatly appreciated! We are leaving Jan.14/03 for 1 week.Thanks!!

My husband and I were trapped in Las Palmas during the Hurricane. What a horror and a mess. it is interesting to here all about the clean up. We have pictures of the huricane.
