Re:las palmas resort
Definately check out the condition of the Resort and if the Resort will be open. We are hearing all kinds of stories about travelers going down and then having to change Resorts when they get there. It is time the Travel Companies start telling the travelers the truth and to give people the holidays they pay for.
Las PAlmas is a beautiful Resort. The best staff too. Hope it is ready to go. Go to Jan 28 th on the board and check out the pictures of Las PAlmas as they build again. pretty neat.
Re:las palmas resort
As of Feb 3 this resort was still not opened, the front of the hotel was a total mess, and it looked to us that the pool area was being reconstructed, also lots of construction along their beach area. I would honestly doubt they would have a fully operational resort within 3 weeks.

Hi, thank you for the info i have just got an e:mail from the tourist board in puerta vallarta stating that the Las Palmas will be open on the 1st march we are surpossed to go on the 2nd
Re:las palmas resort
If I were you I would be getting my Tour Operator to set me up with alternative accomadations . This is the forth time this opening date has moved .
Re:las palmas resort
The Resort may be open or not open when you go But what about all the construction and machinery on the beach. Not my Idea of a relaxing vacation.
Re:las palmas resort
I stayed at the Plaza Pelicanos the last week of January. Las Palmas is wedged between the Pelicanos. I can tell you that Las Palmas was undergoing major construction. Their beach also had construction equipment on it. Everyday I was there, crews were working hard -- so maybe it will be ready by March. But, to be safe you might want to have a backup plan. Would hate for you to be disappointed!
Re:las palmas resort

Hope this link works....... http://groups.msn.com/IndysWorld/laspalmasandpelicanos.msnw?Page=1

These are pics taken of Las Palmas 4 weeks ago when we were in PV. We were suppose to stay their!

You decide if it will be ready!
Re:las palmas resort
A long-time traveller to PV, I just returned Feb 28 after a 2-week stay. I would DEFINITELY advise you to stay at another hotel. Not only will Las Palmas NOT be opened anytime soon, any hotel in the general area is noisy with repairs going on. The beach in the hotel zone is NOT pleasant - I found many rocks but worse, wire pieces, mortor and GLASS. When once you could walk from the marina straight through to Old Vallarta, it can no longer be done (at this time anyway).

That being said, Los Muertos beach is BEAUTIFUL and if you can relocate, I would strongly suggest choosing a hotel in that area. There is much Mexican charm and activity in that area. Hope this helps and enjoy your visit to Vallarta - it truly is a beautiful city.
Re:las palmas resort
When you walked from the marina all the way to Old Vallarta, how did you get across the entrance to the marina? That must have been quite a swim!!
Re:las palmas resort
How did you find the De Oro? Any good?
Re:las palmas resort
Cut and pasted from a posting on another PVR bulletin board. Posted March 14.
Thought this might be of some help to you.

Las Palmas update
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was just at the hotel today for their \"grand opening\".
Actually, they opened the hotel today while they are doing the finishing touches....finishing touches include 50+ workmen with ladders, buckets of concrete, tools, and cables.

Honestly, I never thought it would \"open\" this soon, but sure enough it is.

In all honesty, I would not stay here until the end of March, as the kids club, terrace and beach are not near completion. They promised me in two weeks.

I do have to say many areas look wonderful, nice new palapas, furniture, and a much larger pool and nice terrace area. It will be very nice. They also say all the timeshare units are ready and open.
