I have yet to get a consistent picture of this resort. Has anyone been here recently and what is your experience. I am going with my family in March and am somewhat aprehensive due to some bad reviews.

Re:Las Palmas Resort
Wish I would have read some of these comments about the beach before I booked. Guess we will just have to make the best of what beach is left. Would love to hear more about Las Palmas, as we will be there Mar.17-24. Anything is better than the frozen north!!
Re:Las Palmas Resort
Ok..Ok..Ok...Just to set a few of these people straight who have been putting posts on here about the Las Palmas..First off..We were just there Feb 4-11,..Yes the beach is not as big as it was pre-hurricane. In the Gift shop they have some postcards that show the Las Palmas before the hurricane, and yes the beach is smaller. But While we were there, there was NOT ever a time that the water was up to the wall, nor was there a time that people could not get by. Also almost everyday there were people with little palapas in the sand. Right on the beach..So a person can still enjoy the beach.
I highly recommend this all inclusive resort, the food is excellent, the service is outstanding, the staff are great. The Las Palmas is such a great place to stay. The rooms are nice..we had Ocean View, and it was great waking up to the sound of crashing waves in the morning! The activites staff is good too. During the day there are all sorts of activites to do at the pool..Kayaking, Beach Volleyball, Pool Volleyball, Bingo, Boche ball, spanish lessons, pool aerobics. Every hour from 10-5 is something different..The pool is not to crazy..they do play a little music which is not too loud, very enjoyable. Every night there is a show in the main stage. The shows are entertaining, most of them are audience participation, and if you dont want to participate then sit in the back.
The restaurants. Food is ourstanding..Breakfast is very good, I would recommend some hand made quessidillas, with cheese, and some zucarritas. But the selection is very broad so everyoine will be pleased. Lunch and Dinner are also very very good. We ate most of our breakfasts there, some lunches and about half dinners..
I really fell inl ove with the Las Palmas, We are looking at hopefully going again before too long. If you would like some more adivce, email me and I will try to answer your questions..We did go on some GREAT tours..just ask!

Re:Las Palmas Resort
Regarding the beaches:
Mother nature is still trying to heal the damage done by Kenna.
The beaches are in a state of continuing change from day to day, and week to week. It has nothing to do with the planners not consulting the guests, it has to do with the beaches re-normalizing after a natural disaster. So some days the beaches are better than other days and all along the hotel zone they (the engineers/planners) are tying to \"fix\" the problem, only to have mother nature come along and say, \"No that is not the way I want it.\".
I just look at it like, some days are beach days and some days are pool days, but all days are great days in PV.
