Locations, Maps, Canto Del Sol

We are staying at Canto del Sol -- 1st time to PV -- please help with some info.
I cannot find any detailed maps -- if you know of any please send links.
What is the Malecon? Is this the same as the pier?
How far are we from any stores, restaurants, shopping?

Hi. No, the malecon is not the same as the pier. The malecon is, roughly translated, the boardwalk. It is actually a wide sidewalk along the beach in the heart of the touristy section of downtown. The pier is located about a quarter mile south of the Rio Cuale, which is basically at the southernmost end of the malecon. There is decent shopping for souveniers, etc. right outside of your front door at the Canto and across the main boulevard is Gigante, a supermarket.

I stayed at Canto del sol for my first time ever in PV last June and loved it. The staff, food, drinks, beds etc are excellent. I walked to the Melecon from there it took about 15 min if I wasnt drunk :P!!! There is great shopping all along the beach as well, with vendors coming up to you left and right.
