Well, first off, Los Tules is not downtown or south-side ... it is located in the north hotel zone. That having been said, Los Tules would be ideal based upon the requirements you set forth. It is quiet, laid back and the grounds are outstanding. It is only a short (20 minutes or less) bus ride to downtown or the south side.

The Playa Los Arcos is right in the heart of the south side. It is certainly louder and busier than Los Tules but you can walk to everything.
