Mayan Palace NV

Started June 29, 2004 · 3,102 views · 4 posts
Hi,

We were supposed to stay at the Crown Paradise. However this is not happening because the reservations got messed up with RCI.

So, now, the only place left for my husband and I to stay is at the Mayan Palace in NV. I am a bit skeptical as I have read either really good things about this hotel or really bad things on other travel boards. I understand that is is some distance from PV which we will deal with, I guess :-(

Any thoughts on the hotel itself?

Thanks!!!

Most of the scuttlebut is that when you check in you are placed in the older building across the street. And yes, it is some distance north of PV, but still accessible by bus, or a very expensive taxi ride. Check out Tripadvisor.com for the pros and cons from others who have stayed there.
Re:Mayan Palace NV
The previous post about the older place across the street would refer to Mayan Palace at the Marina. You will not have that problem at Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta, but it is quite some distance from town. Also, be very careful about accepting a tour, complimentary breakfast, etc. for attending a 90 minute timeshare presentation. By the way, the beach at Mayan Palace Nuevo is fantastic. Enjoy your trip.

You take the free shuttle bus from the Mayan Palace to the Sea Garden Market (a small grocery store owned by the Mayan located in front of the Sea garden). You then walk 30 feet north to the ATM bus stop. There is a bus every 20 minutes or so. Costs 10 pesos to PV. Rather than getting off at Walmart and changing to a city bus, stay on the ATM bus to the end of the line, which is the terminal in downtown PV. It is about 5 blocks east of the Malecon. Saves time as the bus has no stops, and saves the 4 peso fare for the city bus. The buses run until 10:00 or 10:30, check with the desk at the hotel or the concierge out front, they will know for sure.
