Mayan Palace

What is the difference between Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan? New resort or same resort different name. I noticed the name on there web sight mayanpalace.com

The main difference as pertains to Nuevo Vallarta? The Mayan Palace is open for business. The Grand Mayan is about 40% completed. When complete the Grand Mayan will be the top tier of the resort chain (6 star). Sea Palace is lowest (4 star), then Mayan Palace (5 star), then Grand Mayan (6 star). Why someone would want more than the Mayan Palace is beyond me.
