Re:Occidental (Allegro) Nuevo Vallarta?
We( a family of two adults, two children, 12 and10) were booked at the Allegro last March. When we arrived at the hotel we found out that they were overbooked by about 20 rooms and had been for at least two weeks prior. We were offered a move to the Sheraton, which we were not happy about, since we like the beaches at Nuevo. After one nights stay in the Allegro, in what was probably the worst room in the hotel overlooking the maintenance area and air conditioning units, we were moved next door to the Sierra. We could use the facilities of both hotels for the rest of the week. The Sierra was a much nicer, cleaner property but the food was far superior at the Allegro. The rooms did not even compare. The Allegro is in need of a facelift. Had the food been better at the Sierra we would have gone back there this year. We have previously stayed at the Sierra in Manzanillo and found that there too the food was not very good at all. We wrote numerous letters to the Allegro and our travel company when we returned, since a lot of the people who were bumped were offered some kind of compensation, but we got nowhere with that. I have heard good things about the Solare as well, but have never stayed there. We are trying the Royal Decameron this year.
