Ocean safety

Jennybean or anyone else with good advice!

We are staying at the Villa Del Palmar Flamingos Beach Resort and Spa and I was wondering if the ocean is safe to swim in there? I have swam all over in PV and never had a problem, but not in this area and this time I am bringing an infant and would love for her to experience the ocean for the first time but want to be safe. I am more concerned about if there are any river run off that might cause contamination in this area.

The foam from the plankton bloom is pretty thick. Not sure about health effects, but it sticks to your legs and then attracts sand. Need to hose down any furry critters.

It was bad in April, then got better in May and now worse again.

the foam a few weeks ago was very sticky.

According to a friend from Mazatlan, the foam is even up there.

We just returned from PVR on June 13 and we found the foam much
more prevalent around the Malecon than out around the marina area.
Hopefully it will be gone in a few weeks.
One subject I have not seen mentioned lately is Portugese man-o-war.
The eight yearold grandson found one washed up on the beach at Club
Regina. Much too curious for a midwestern boy. We were told milk will
reduce the pain, but that was much later. He was much better after a
nap and completely pain-free the next morning. The wife applied a
topical anesthetic we carry in our first aid kit.
