On your vacation rental, how much security deposit?

Hello PV pros,

We just bought a condo we want to rent. Does anyone have any advice on how much of a security deposit to ask for?

Also, do you wait for a rental check, cash it and then mail the key to your prospective renter? (Mostly I am talking about rental of a week or two)

Or is there a better way to handle these logistics?

I would appreciate any advice you have on this.

You can rent your condo out yourself, but still put it on sites like PVRPV or Casas del Mar. They will add their fee onto your rate.PVRPV deducts their fee from your rate but adds IVA to your share before depositing it.

I agree that 50% of the fee to reserve the time is standard, but usually the balance is needed 30 days before the booking starts.
