Opinion on resorts

First of all I apologize if I am too wordy, but I have found in past forums the more specific my request the better my request is answered. My wife and I are planning to trade our studio for a one bedroom through interval international next summer. We plan to take another couple with us and will need a 1 bedroom that sleeps 4. We have already been to Cancun, Aruba, and St. Martin. We loved all three places and want to try the West Coast of Mexico. We are thinking of traveling to Mazatlan, PV, or Cabo San Lucas. Does anyone suggest PV over Mazatlan or Cabo San Lucas? Why?

If we stayed in PV it would be at Lindo Mar Adventure Club, Villa Pacifico, or Embarcadero Pacifico. Does anyone have an opinion on these resorts? Are they located on or near nice beaches? Are they located near the restaurants and night life?

We’ve been to Mazatlan once with another couple & stayed at Los Sabalos on the beach in ‘96. We’ve been to PV 5 times. We keep meaning to get to Cabo but PV always wins over now that we’re addicted to it. In my humble opinion there is no comparison for Mazatlan and PV. Mazatlan was a blast for sure, we got around in what they call a pnemonia (like a golf cart) which is a death defying adventure in itself. I found we were kind of confined to the “Golden Zone” as it was safest for tourists. Lots of good places to eat but as far as activities go I don’t really remember much except seeing a really nice golf course. I didn’t feel at ease there and have no plans to return. Now PV on the other hand feels like ‘home’ to me. Lots to see, lots to do, beautiful ocean, lots of choices, then there’s the Malecon and old town and the list could just go on and on and on. Mazatlan gets a 6/10, Cabo I don’t know much about other than hearsay about it being pricey and I’ve seen the prices in the tour guide books (a little out of my range). We went to Manzanillo and stayed at Karmina Palace (maybe that’s more your style I don’t know ) WOW is all I can say. Karmina was one of my ‘dream destination’ places to go. Manzanillo gets an 8/10 but I probably wouldn’t go back Guess what…..good ole Puerto Vallarta gets a 10/10 – we’ll never get to go back enough times to see and do all we want to. I’m not personally familiar with any of your hotel choices but there are definitely lots of options in Vallarta.

I would select Puerto Vallarta or Puerto Vallarta or Los Cabos over Mazatlan. Many sections of the beach in Mazatlan are less than desirable.
Puerto Vallarta has breathtaking scenery, with the mountains so close to PV. Los Cabos provides the desert, the sea and the ocean. If you like the nightlife, I suggest Cabo San Lucas. If you want to experience the real Mexico, then go to Puerto Vallarta. Nuevo Vallarta may be too far from PV to experience the nightlife and the amenities in the city. You might want to look at Vellas Vallarta at the marina.

I appreciate all of the information. You have answered my questions. It sounds like PV should be our choice for vacation next summer.

I appreciate all of the information about Lindo Mar. I had my wife read your post. You have sold us on the resort. It sounds like a nice place to stay. Hopefully, I will get a hit through interval international.

I stay at the Melia, which is next door to the Villa Pacifica.
