Playa Los Arcos vs Buenaventura Hotel?

Started February 22, 2004 · 4,323 views · 3 posts
ok ok ok We are getting close to making up our mind for which one to book buty I just wanted to put out one more post to you \"many\" timers.

After eliminating a few of our other choices, we have narrowed it down to two. The Playa Los Arcos or the Buenaventura.

Which would you stay at and why? I have heard positive and negative things on both (as every other resort in PV). We want a decent beach and with these being on Los Muertos we know that will be good. THe food we heard is satifactory at both as well as the service and cleanliness.

Where exactly is the Buenaventura? I know the PLA is 2 resorts north of the pier. I do believe the B is south of the pier but not sure.

Any help would be HUGE!!!

Thanks and 24 days to go.

My husband and I stayed at the Playa Los Arcos March/April of 2001. This was my first trip to Mexico and I enjoyed the hotel very much. The location was wonderful & very close to fun activities. The beach was very nice back then (pre-kenna) - and I thought one of the best. The hotel staff was pretty good, the rooms nice and clean. It is an older hotel and not a fancy resort. At the time we stayed there because of cost, it was much lower than others. You will not be staying at a 4 star resort, but this was very fun and nice for us at the time. There is nothing wrong with this hotel!!

We tended to eat off the property as everything was so close. We brought our own bottle of Cuban Rum to the pool (we were on a tight budget back then). The waiters were very nice to keep our glasses filled with ice. The location is such that it is very easy to go to all the hot spots !!!

Would we go back? Yes. It is small and intimate. Quite a few kids though. Locals stay here. We had a room on the north side, 2nd floor, just above the restaruant and next to the public \"walkway\" to the beach. It was a wonderful room with a great balcony overlooking the beach and the beautiful sunsets. If I could be assured of the same room...I would book again in a heartbeat.

If you do stay, they will probably put you in an okay room, but if you insist for something better (nicely) you are likely to get it (as we did).

We are going to PV Feb 28 - March 11. We were going to book at the Playa but the prices on Travelocity (best prices anywhere) were around $95/night (USD) and we got an AI at the Canto Del Sol for $127/night (USD). Canto appears to be a bit nicer so we decided to book there.

As for location - its not too far from the pier. I tended to stay by the pool (which is small but nice) most of the day unless we went exploring.

Good luck and have fun!! You will not be dispointed if you stay at the Playa Los Arcos.
