Puerto Vallarta VS Nuevo Vallarta??? hotels??? first timer

Started January 4, 2005 · 4,722 views · 4 posts
First timer in PV. Where do I want to go. I want an all inclusive resort. We do many activities and only beach it a day or two. 33 yrs old. Not looking for a DUMP but not high class. preferable no kids. looking for some excitement at night. During the all inclusive, we would need a variety of places to eat. Are they all buffet or can you order off the menu? I am totally lost on which hotel to choice for what I am looking for. I would like to be near town, but there are alot of hotels farther away and wondering if that is a big issue. Do I want to be by the marina? Where is the action at?
Thanks so much for your advice, totally lost in picking!

Very tough choice...I just got back, first time down. We stayed at Vilas Loma Linda, up the hill from Los Muertos it was pleasant except for the road noise from HWY 200 and the up and down steps. Its location was good in respect to downtown, and trust me you will want to spend time there! It would be nice to have stayed at a new resort with all the amenities, but bad being stuck a long ways from the action downtown! We took a Taxi all the time 30 pesos and only a 3-5 minute ride to fun, I just cant imagine we would have been motivated to spend as much time downtown as we did if we had been so far away in Nuevo.

I can not speak for the different resorts downtown, most of them looked very nice. Just having about 50 places to eat within a 5-10 minute walk would make my mind up!

There are two adult only resorts that I know of; the Golden Crown Paradise and the Villa Premiere ,(many posts on this board and on tripadvisor for both) both are all inclusive and do not have buffets, order off meus in at least two restaurants at each resort. The Premiere is closer to \"downtown\" but very walkable. The Golden Crown Paradise is a short taxi or bus ride, it is in the hotel zone, close to the airport and the Marina where the cruise ships dock and the \"party\" boats leave from. We have stayed at both and would recommend both of them. We will be going back to the Crown for our 7th visit in Feb. Both of these resorts have websites, just use their names and you can bring them up on-line. Hope this helps you.
