We were there in August 2000 when all the Mexicans were on vacation. The hotel was full of Mexicans with their children. This was not bad as the children were pleasant and polite.
Night life consisted of a disco in the lobby area that featured a high proportion of popular Mexican music, since the majority of people there were young Mexicans.
They also had a show every night with different themes. The way this worked was that the main buffet (which was very good) was outside the theatre. You got your food then went into the theatre to sit down and eat. Roughly half an hour after you finished eating, if you remained at your table you saw the show which would finish about 10. You did not have to go to the buffet to sit in the theatre area.
If you were into the night life ouside the hotel the activities people from the hotel organized a trip to one of the clubs on the Malecon every night, leaving the hotel about 11. Most of the clubs do not start to get lively until about that time. My children used to get back to the hotel about 4 a.m. from these adventures.
