What time of year are you going? Is that airfare you quoted current for this season?
Royal Decameron extended stay

We are going November 4th to December 2nd. I got all prices for this time frame.
By the way, we live 7 miles from the US border so we have the option of flying US to Mexico.
I priced condos and found that they run about $1700 to $2500 per month, then you need to buy food and cook it. Then you need to find a beach to go to if the condo is not on the beach (which most were not in that price range). If the condo is not on the beach then you need to buy beach chairs and boogie boards and drag them down everytime you go to the beach. The RD also has a very nice beach with good boogie board surf, unlike most beaches in PV. You also have to buy all of your drinks.
My wife also enjoys the fact that no one has to shop or cook for one whole month. So considering the price for $4160, and the fact that we really like the RD, I think this is a good way to go.

Considering many pay 1500.00 Can. plus for 1 person 1 week stay A1
4160 for 2 sounds like a good deal to me for a month long vacation (lucky:) )Enjoy

Royal Decameron
We have stayed as a family at the RD for 6 years. Last year we went for 28 days and paid $6,200.00 including cancellation insurance and out of country medical through Air Transat Vacations in Toronto. That was for 2 people. We went Jan 28 to Feb 25 inclusive. We plan on returning Feb/07 for the same time frame.
You may have that problem in Western Canada, but from Toronto we do not. We have friends who joined us also for a month from Edmonton Alberta and have not had a problem. They only charge for 2 weeks as per the brochure and then the difference between 1 and 2 weeks. It is approx. 400.00 per week. I can find out where they booked from, but we booked directly with Air Transat in Toronto, from their brochure. We did not use a travel agent.
When I contacted the RD directly thru email I was referred to an agent in the east, who told me that all bookings are handled thru expedia.
I checked out the Hotels.ca site and yes it is $112 a night, but after you get a total for the 28 days, the price is $119.10 per night, and no surprise, but Expedia.ca wants the exact same amount to the penny.
Total price for 28 days $3334.80. Airfare out of Spokane Wash (I live near the US border), $438 including all fees and taxes, per person.
Total price for two adults, $4210.80.
