My wife and I stayed at the Samba Vallarta twice, most recently in Jan 2003. It is quite a nice resort, only about 180 rooms. It takes about half an hour or so to get to town by bus. It is kind of a fun ride, but can be crowded when you get on as the Samba is almost the last stop before it heads to town. We loved the resort, the food was good, the grounds were nice and we loved that it was close to the town of Bucerias, which has all the things PV has, but on a smaller scale and has more of a genuine \"mexican\" feel to it. PV can be quite commercialized in some areas. The Samba is right next door to the Riu Jalisco. The beaches are very nice in this area. If you are looking for a party atmosphere, this would not be the place for you. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation at a nice property with good food and pleasant staff, then you will have an excellent time here.
