sharaton buganvilias

Does anybody know what happened at the Sheraton. We had reservations for Dec 7-14, those were cancelled, tried to make reservations for Jan, was told the hotel is not opening now until Feb 4. What is the status of that hotel. Can anyone help??? We want to come to Puerto Vallarta but it doesnt seem to be working. HELP

We have just come back from PV. The hotels along the strip from downtown are bad, Sheraton seems to be really bad. Our time share was closed (Krystal) it is a war zone. We booked and paid again at Velas Vallarta in the Marina and it was fine. Downtown is still not so good but is coming along. I would suggest getting Sheraton to book you some place else i.e. Marina or the other side of P.V.

what exactly do you mean by a \"war zone\" . I was told by the staff at the Sheraton that there was no damage to the actual hotel. Just the grounds, so is that where the problem is?? What do the grounds look like???

Nuevo beaches are beautiful but its a 30 min bus ride into town. Sheraton looked trashed when i was there thru Nov 10 so were alot of the hotels in that area. Downtown came along way the week I was there. Lots of damage but still alot of great places to go.

The word around town is the foundation of the sheraton tower has been shifted and now has to be pulled down. thats the word, dont know how true it is.

Was in PV last week, also heard the tower must come down. I agree, ask to be rebooked. In traveling past the Sheraton and Sun Getaway daily, both premise access points - driveways, etc. were closed off with the yellow caution tapes - The Sheraton has a big sign in front saying they are closed due to Kenna but will reopen. Keep in mind, even though they may have a target date to reopen, stuff happens. There are lovely hotels in the Marina, and in downtown.

I had a reservation for Dec 7 - 14, which was canceled too, The Hotels located in the Hotel Zones have much damage that the Hotels locates out of this zone.
I had planed to go to EMC 2002 but they canceled my reservation. I looked for other Hotel options and I found Melia and Valas Vallarta, bout have all-inclusive.
You try to find other option for your vacations. There are many Hotels that could be compared with Sheraton.
I will travel to Puerto Vallarta this weekend; I will let you know how is the situation.

Thanks to all that responded to my questions about the Sheraton. It is hard to know what to do when you are so far away from what happened. Looks like we wont be going down there until next winter. I got socked with a $200.00 per person cancellation charge for airfair for 4 people. I dont want to make reservations again and not know for sure if the hotel is open. I would go to another location in PV but we love the Sheraton and our time share is there, and we dont belong to RCI. We love PV, have been there 4 winters in a row and are really sad that we wont be there this year.Happy Holidays to all of Puerto Vallarta and its visitors.
