Re:Sheraton Buganvilias
We stayed at the Sheraton in 98 and really enjoyed our time there. Like so many more we were bitten by the PV bug and are headed back again this year for another taste of that Mexican hospitality. We have opted to stay at Villa Del Palmar this trip because we were looking for a kitchenette. As for the Sheraton It was very well maintained, the pool area and beach are nice as well. It is only about a 15 minute walk to the Malecon and an \"El Centro\" bus comes by every 5 minutes that can take you to the Malecon or right into the older section of Vallarta where you will find loads of excellent restaurants and bars. Enjoy your trip!

Re:Sheraton Buganvilias
thanks for the info Murray
where is a great romantic restaurant
Re:Sheraton Buganvilias
For romance, I would try any or all of the following: La Piazetta (Olas Altas) La Palapa on Los Muertos beach (5 star dining on the beach) Cafe de Artists ($pendy) Le Kliff (south of PV, take taxi)
El Panorama (centro) sits up top the hill for excellent sunset views-
El Farro Light house for drinks during sunset and of course the Rythyms of the Night cruise to Caletas...very romantic and good dinner and show.
Re:Sheraton Buganvilias
I agree the La Piazetta is a must do restaurant. Also try a place commonly known as 70 pesos all you can eat. Very good BBQ.

Ride the local bus system instead of using taxis. It is efficient, cheap, and the locals are great people.

My wife and I went to Nuevo Vallarta in late June and are returning to PV in March but are staying at the Sheraton. I was not impressed with Nuevo as we were way out of town with little/nothing to do. I guess if you want to stay at the resort itis O.K. but otherwise too far out. The Sheraton is a great choice as it is outside of the noisy/party area but a close walk, bus ride, taxi ride to the hot spots.

The restaurant Barry is referring to is Asaderos at Basilio Badillo 223 (Restaurant Row) in the old town. Mucho carne. Baked potato extra. Say Hi to owner Cesar. He built the restaurant himself, seven years ago. The ribs and sausage are my favorites.
