Sheraton

HI all...

Seems like everytime I get on here lately it is about the Sheraton and what is next?? Well, they are closed til January!! They must have really taken a direct hit! I am so sad, it is a beautiful resort.

Needless to say, we had to cancel and now have tickets to arrive and nowhere to stay....RCI is not much help. They are still discouraging travel down there.... Running out of time, supposed to leave on Nov 23.

Any ideas????

There are numerous (many!) other hotels open and running with no damage! Most of the hotels in the hotel zone are closed at least for a month or more. Try Nuevo, Southside, Marina!

We were in the Sheraton during Kenna... Actually on the 10th floor of the new building in the \"Resort\". All of the glass facing the ocean is gone. The restaurants are pretty well destroyed. The large palapa is gone, not just the roof but the kitchen structure as well. The bar area, restaurant and the room where they sell the timeshares are also esentially gone including many of the walls. The timeshare units facing the ocean had the greatest damage. Nothing left on the first two floors except structural beams and slabs. Reopening will probably depend on repairing infrastructure. I would think they will reopen as soon as possible even if many of the amenities are still under repair. Most of the rooms in both the hotel and the resort were undamaged. They could be in business as soon as they repair the water, power and elevators.

\"There was some limited wind damage in town but the most damage occured along the beaches from the high tide. There is a big clean up campaign going on, every one is pitching in, this is very important for PV. Water and electricity are on, some hotels on the beach are closed for a short period (some weeks). Our area [Olas Altas] is getting back to normal, the beach places are rebuilding the palapas and replacing the sand that was washed away. Luckily there were no casualties and all damages will be restored within 2, 3 weeks.
