A friend is looking for a studio or 1 bedroom apartments for rent, with private bath and kitchen, for (hopefully, depending on price) one month – anytime January or February. Her price range is $1,500 - $2,000. In town is fine as long as the beach is a reasonable walk. Any suggestions or pointers would be much appreciated.

I do know a great place for rent 3 blocks up behing the cathedral. It has a gorgeous view of the ocean and the owners live onsite, so it is very safe. I have stayed there a number of times and have recommended it to numerous people. There are 3 units for rent, the top one being a studio suite, and by far my favorite!
