What are the best rooms to ask for? Any experiences we can hear about as we are going March 5/05

Ask \"Brimoi\" on the Todo Vallarta BB. He has stayed at the Trop many a time.
Re:Tropicana Hotel
The hotel is comprised of basic standard rooms which may not have ocean view. Standard rooms which face the ocean but may not have TV. Better standard rooms which face the ocean and have TV. This is the 9 story section of the hotel. Superior rooms in the newer section which all face the ocean in some way. These are very nice rooms and have TV big showers patios, etc. Some of these rooms face southwest so they get lots of sun. (Best rooms) Also the first to be filled. The Trop is a nice basic hotel with nice staff and well kept grounds. A nice bar by the pool and a great location. Close to the best places to eat and shopping. Also, easy to walk to downtown. Since this is high season, you may not be able to pick your room. Starting about the first of Feb. they are booked. Sometimes, however, after a nite or two it may be possible to a room that has just been vacated. Sometimes.
Re:Tropicana Hotel
Just returned from there. Feel that our travel agent did not give us the big picture. The acomodation was very basic, no TV, very ugly room, something out of the sixties decor and very well worn. Got them to show us the next level of room, which had better
furniture, TV and nicer balcony. The cost was extra $12.00 USD but worth it. Felt we were part of some kind of bait & switch.
Others we talked to next day shared our feelings & upgraded also under protest of price. Memo to self, ask next time what level of
accomodation you are getting. I have never had this happen to me before. The rest of the stay was great.

Re:Tropicana Hotel
Just came back 2 weeks ago from my 4th stay at the Trop. Have stayed in ocean view rooms and standard. twice I had ocean view with no a/c nor TV. Ocean view once with just TV but no a/c and this last trip was a standard room no ocean view but with king size bed, a/c and tv.I upgraded after 4 nights when Gabby came down to a partial ocean view with tv and a/c, no extra charge except 12 bucks for additional person in room. I really do not think we would stay anywhere else but the Trop. Great beach, great bar service on the beach, and the perfect location.
