I have stayed at the VDP 15 times over the last 10 years. My last trip was in April and was great as always. You have picked at great location because you are just a short bus or cab ride away from everything. There are 2 pools at the VDP and another one over at the sister property Villa del Mar that you can use. There are 2 restaurants in the resort but I have only tried the one for lunch and the food was not bad. Too many great restaurants in PV. There is a small store outside of the VDM where you can buy some food but would only recommend it for picking up snacks and water. If you are planning to do some cooking in your room, I suggest you talk a short walk down the street to Gigante to buy your groceries. There is also a BBQ you can use over at the VDM.
I agree with Palapa girl that its a good hotel. The rooms come equipped with a complete kitchen right down to a blender. The bus service stops out front and down pass the local store. Catch any bus that says Centro and you will be downtown in a few minutes, the return bus will be any that say Hoteles, just hop off at the Gigante store on your right. The trick here is to get to the pool early and drop your towels to stake out your chairs. A better solution is to pass the pool and go to the beach and have the lad waiting bring you a couple of chairs and mats. A bit of tipping gos well here as elsewhere.
Enjoy PV

I will be staying at VDP in April and am wondering if there is a section or area of rooms I might want to request, and do you think if we tip the desk are we more likely to get our request, or would they be upset with us. If we should tip the desk to get a good room or great view, what amount would be appropriate? Sandi
Hi all! First time poster here.... I too have reservations at this resort and appreciate the helpful info. One question I have not seen is, do the rooms have internet access? Just wondering if I should lug the laptop with me or not.
Thanks for your replies (in advance!).:D

However there is a little internet cafe with about 5-6 computers right on the property.
