Westin Regina

I would love to hear some feedback (good and bad) about the Westin Regina. How are the rooms, restaurants, pools, location to other restaurants, etc.

We are making our fourth trip to the Westin Regina for a week at the end of May. We like it for several reasons....the pools are beautiful and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The beds are truly \"heavenly\" and the rooms spacious and nice - we have never stayed in the club section. The pool area is beautiful and we have never had an issue getting a lounge chair. There are several pools so you have the option to relax in the peaceful surroundings at one pool or play bingo or volleyball at the more active pool. I have read complaints that there are too many palm trees and you can’t get decent sun…I have always come home darker than I went, and personally like to escape the sun at times. We have never used the kid’s club or the kid’s pool, but we are taking the kids this trip so I can comment later on the kid’s area. There are two restaurants on the property but we have only eaten at the swim-up bar - we typically eat a light lunch at the pool each day and go off property for other meals. I can only think of two negatives…..1.) The beach is not good even by PV standards. You can get a much better beach if you go south of downtown. This isn’t a big deal for us because we aren’t huge beach fans and really just fell in love with PV for the culture, history, etc. 2.) The food and drinks are ridiculously expensive, but we usually go with the attitude that it’s a vacation and we only do it a couple of times a year. Since it is in the marina area, we eat breakfast at Mr. Creams every morning for about $15 USD for two adults. There is a little store across from the resort that sells beer, bottled water, etc. A cab into town is only about $5-$6 one way so it is easy to go into town each night for dinner. Two of our favorite restaurants are Café de Olla and La Piazetta. Los Muertos beach is a great place to have drinks at sunset…there are several places to choose from. I know that this is probably way more info than you needed, but just e-mail me if you have any questions. The way I see it, you can’t go wrong anywhere in PV – I would just avoid an all inclusive and get out and explore the town.
