Whats With This GCP obsession ?

Started August 5, 2006 · 43,055 views · 12 posts
I have been going to Puerto Vallarta For about 7 year now and I check into this site often to see it anything is new or changed with PV. Lately it seem a few individuals have taken over and assumed the role of self appointed ambassador...They feel they have to respond to every post to this forum....If a waiter farts at the GCP they email an apology.
Its become a joke... they make it seem that the GCP is the only Hotel in PV worth staying at... It quite obvious there SHILLs for the hotel And they get there freebees like honeymoon suites, free breakfasts with the owners etc.
I say to all \"there is life, and other good hotels in Puerto Vallarta\"....

Re: Whats With This GCP obsession ?
I am a regular at the GCP. 10 times in 6 years. I do not post on this bulletin board and still get and still receive all the perks of being a regular guest. I am treated very special when I arrive and throughout my stay. It is just good business to treat returning guests with extra perks.
I see the postings by the self proclaimed \" Mr. and Mrs. GCP\" and kind of \"chuckle\". I get treated as well or better than they but l prefer to keep a keep a low profile. I will continue to patronize The GCP because of the way I am treated and the friends I have made. Why be a regular customer at another resort ???????
It really is the simple things, right?
What is wrong with the people that enjoy GCP saying so? I have never seen any of the GCP fans bad mouthing another place. When you treat a place right, it treats you right. It is obvious that the GCP supporters do that.

If anyone feels that someone gushes over GCP, then YOU take it with a grain of salt and move on. I take it as people that enjoy the place and no more. I do own a T/S that is part of it, but have owned there way before the CP or the GCP was what it now is. I use our Suite at the Marina de Oro one week a year and then move on to the Velas for 2 more weeks. I think the place is every bit of OK.
We all do not post as eloquently as Jenny does and we like her have opinions ...can we not voice them as she does???
and as far as I am concerned this is the end of the topic!!!
Tom
You represent GCP very well and are a gentleman ! :)
A while back on a different forum I was looking for input on overnight Yelapa accommodations, and received not one but 2 different extremely negative reviews on a property, both from first time posters. They went to such lengths to completely slam this place, the owners and every small detail regarding their stay that it was obvious someone had an axe to grind.

I never saw either poster again, assuming of course that it was actually 2 different ppl.
Bravo

Good one Mogens. Excellent point of view.
I just wish November would hurry up and get here so I can get back to the GCP(for my 5th visit)!
\"We have found that the true essence of PV lies in the city, not north of it.\"

...so very true...only in PV can you actually find the the true essence of PV...makes sense...however, only north of PV can you ever hope to find the true essence of small villages such as Bucerias, Punta Mita, Sayulita, etc. Everyone travels for different reasons and everyone has different ideas of the best accomodations...for many and especially for Canadians, it is often less expensive to buy an AI package and then venture out using the resort as a sort of home base...even with the off resort expenses it is often cheaper...personally I find PV proper to be a little touristy and somewhat homogenized...Mexico Light if you will...but still I recognize that it is very suitable for some, if not most...I just think that there is no need to judge what other travellers choose over others...I applaud the GCP group for their loyalty and am certain that this loyalty is sincere...to each his own...sonofdob.
We all come here for the atmosphere that we have found for ourselves. Yesterday i met up with some old friends of the family for lunch, they came to Puerto Vallarta and HATED it
Tom, I had a similar experience a couple of years ago. We had dinner with a cousin and her husband, the conversation inevitably turned to PV and she said they had been there and were never so bored in their whole lives! I was almost speechless.
