Just back from the Riu last night and am already planning my next trip back. We had read so many awful things the last few weeks I was kind of nervous getting there...that lasted about 30 seconds.
Overall everything was absolutely wonderful..
The hotel is everything that you could imagine. There was so much eye to detail in the buildings down to the restrooms.
The food was plentiful and was a large variety. Even though they had the same things most days you had so much to choose from that you never had to eat the same things twice. The restaurant by the beach was our favorite for dinner. Plus you get the added bonus of the sunset.
The pool area was very nice. There were plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The only complaint was the pool would get a little warm by afternoon. That is usually when we would go to the ocean for a couple of hours. We kayaked and used the boogie boards. One day there were some very large waves and we were really able to enjoy the boogie boards. Next time we are planning on taking lessons for the catamarans.
The Staff seemed very eager to please. Some did not speak English very well but were anxious to help. I was always able to communicate what I needed. We did notice that we were some of the few that were actually tipping. I know that they say tips are included but it is still a nice gesture when you get the kind of service that we received.
Overall everything was wonderful from the arrival to the departure. The only exception was the size of the dance floor in the disco....it needs to be twice the size to accommodate all the people.
We heard several people complaining on the plane that they had a horrible time...of course these were the same people that when we seen them at the resort always seemed to be laughing and having a good time..oh well a vacation is always what you make of it. I would recommend this resort to anybody.
