Been to Puerto Vallarta 5 times usually the tour operator takes us by bus to the resort , this time we are making our own way .I know I have read on previous posts about catching cabs at the airport , white vs. yellow and where to catch them , can someone refresh my memory please.

Thanks

you have two choices... depending on how many are travelling with you and how much luggage you have with you... you can go out the south door and cross over the bridge and grab a yellow taxi, negotiate before you take off with him... next thing, if you go to the south doors there is a taxi booth there, and you pay the federal airport taxes and the rate to the resort... for us it is like 12 - 14 USD from the airport to the GCP...

where are you staying at... that will help us as well to advise you ...
thank you for asking this question. my wife and i will also need to taxi
with luggage to south side of romantica - i was considering the bridge
over hwy and get yellow cab, but any insight would be appreciated.
thank you ahead of time.
Last year I think we paid about $20 USD - including tip - to the Tropicana. Well worth the money - we took a white cab as I recall. Will most likely do the same this Sunday...2 more sleeps!! 8V8

the federale white airport taxi will run you roughly 20 dollars. the yellow city taxis over the highway will run 10-15. make sure to negotiate the price before getting in.
walked over hwy, took yellow cab to south los muertos beach - 150 pesos
south los muertos beach back to airport - 160 pesos
south los muertos beach to velas vallarta - 100 pesos

airport = 50 pesos :wink:
Took yellow cab from airport to Holiday Inn. First time it was 70 pesos and when I picked up my friend the next day I negotiated 70 pesos and when we got in the cab he said 100 pesos. No amount of me expressing my anger in him changing the price worked and we did not tip him nor did he help us with our bags at the hotel. The bellman did of course and he got a tip.
I crossed the bridge and paid 10 us to the hotel el pescador ,just before the malecon, going back it was 70 pesos plus a tip ,so 10 us again. plus 50 pesos to my friend at the hotel who helped me with my luggage from the room , but really thats not bad because I paid 10 us in the airport for a marg on the rocks (that sucked).
either way 50 or 70 is still worth it for a ride to paradise, here at home we have a min.fee for a cab ride and its 5 us for 1 block or 5
Smitty ,here we go again ,another pv addict
I am feeling it too ,looking at condos for sept
the ol bank account will sure let you know when you can go
yea, its a little empty right now....we ended up getting offered first class for 150 bucks and we took it!! It was the perfect ending to a perfect holiday!
