Heading Thurs. for a 10 day trip to the Kootneys..Nelson (Balfour)and Kimberly BC ...Could be a good PV driving starting point.. :)

I have driven from Northern California to Cabo San Lucas. At one time there was a ferry that went from Baja California Sur across the sea to Mazatlan, and you would drive south to Vallarta from there, if it is still running. My experience on driving in Baja was that the roads (for the most part) were good and Green Angels were frequently seen. We camped and stayed in motels, alternately, and found everywhere we stayed to be fairly clean and safe. We fell in love with several small towns, and returned for vacations in years to follow. I would recommend not driving at night because there were LOTS of range animals.
