Kids, Car seats, travel safety

Hi,
We are going to Mexico--Nuevo Vallarta--for the first time. We are wondering about safety and traveling with our 2 and 4 year olds. Do the transport vehicles from the airport to hotel and local taxis have shoulder & lap belts that would support child and booster car seats? Anyone traveled with small children?

So, we will just be sure to secure transportation that has seatbelts.

I wish you tons of luck in your search. In my experience, transportation that have seatbelts are few and far between in Mexico.

Which is the main reason in the other thread we were saying to try other options, including keeping the children secure between two adults in the back seat. You might be hard pressed to even find a lap belt to secure a car seat in anything but the airport taxis.

I am pretty sure you will be taken in a large modern coach to your Resort. Quite safe!
I would not take toddlers on public buses. Hard enough to sit yourself down let alone with kids.
I wonder if one tipped a cab driver a little extra if they would slow down a wee bit??
I agree do not expect seat belts in a cab.
I think if I were traveling with little ones I would book a Resort in walking distance to a few of the main attractions I would want to see.

My rule traveling with kids.....
plus4 as toddlers never ever went with Mom into Pricey gift shops. You break em pay em signs scared me. :D

Corect me if I am wrong, but is sest belt use not the law in PV now? My previous 2 trips this past year and the last two trips last year all of the yellow cabs I was in had seat belts and I did use them. The drivers also wore them.
