Has anyone used a private driver for touring the area? We used one for airport pickup and touring for the day while in Acapulco and loved this personalized service he offered. This will be our 2 trip to the area and our friends first trip. Staying in Nuevo at the Grand Mayan.

Couple of suggestions on this one. Check with your bellmen at your resort, they know the drivers the best. We have found them very useful to find us a driver that spoke very good english to take us out and about. also, check with your driver when you go from the airport to your resort, he may have access to another car, another driver, or a buddy that will take you out and about...

When we stayed out at Paradise Village we got connected with a driver named Sergio. It was great to have a personal guide to take us to some of the not so popular locations. He got us hooked up with a guy who owned a boat and took us and a cooler out to an island for snorkeling for an afternoon, outstanding!! The second year that we used him he brought us all to his home to meet his family and enjoy a meal together, great memories! Like Tom said, check with your resort, thats how we found him.

I have been thinking of doing this the last couple of years we have been down in PV.. is it very pricy?

The key thing here is just negotiate with one of the local taxi drivers, or check with your bellmen of your resort. They know all the drivers, those that are willing to do a whole day and those who speak better english... I think there is also a link either on this website or one of the other PV websites that list people with surburbans for hire as well...

He has a Cevy Suburban, knows the area and every body, he grew up in PV. His rates are reasonable.
