The fare should be about $20.00 US to the hotel zone, I believe. I told my last 2 guest to pack light, as I have a washer and dryer. They did and we were able to take the bus from the airport for 45 cents as opposed to the $25.00 US the airport taxis cost. Crossing the bridge is always an option but if you`re loaded down it`s a pain in the neck.
Taxi Fares
We paid $18.00 US from the airport to the Holiday Inn in the hotel zone two weeks ago. Not sure where the VDP is from there however.

It would be the same price to the VDP as it is next door to the Holiday Inn.
Wow.. the prices are steep..
We tool a cab from the De Cameron to Old town for $17.00 Canadian..
Most we have paid in the city was $5.00 Canadian from Hotel Zone to the Orphange which was a fairly long ride. Hotel Zone to Andales was around 3.00 Can.
No wonder everyone is trying to avoid the Airport cabs.. It should be full deal Limo service for those prices. :)
Comparison
You knew that, but you still compared city taxi rates to airport rates, which is why I said what I said.

Apples and elephants.
using my edit option today.. Said a naughty word.. a word I hate
Not nice..Not polite
definitely not lady like
sorry Jennybean
I will try and stay away from subjects I know nada about.
just bumping this up for my edit.
Just remember the taxi rates go by zones, so you could be staying at the Krystal in the \"hotel\" zone and pay more to get downtown than you would from Holiday Inn or VDP in the \"hotel\" zone. Each zone is marked by a river.

Just for info, I was paying $6 from VDP to Los Muertos 3 weeks ago.
If you get a porter to take your luggage for you they will walk you straight out to the taxis. No hassles/no confusion. Just follow along behind them and you will not have any problems. The porters are all in the luggage area after you pass through immigration.
