We travel yearly from San Diego to PV. We have friends that want to join us next year from New York (May 13th). What is the best airline/charter/tour ? from that area? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Continental has a non-stop from Newark. It costs a little more than connecting flights but it avoids the changeover at Houston, which is a hassle at best and on one of our trips, a nightmare.
p.s. The Continental non-stop from Newark, as far as I know, does not fly every day. But it leaves Newark around 10 a.m., not in the middle of the night like some of the charters. Why save $100 when you lose a day catching up on your sleep? Also - and this is important - it gets to PV around 3. In time for happy hour at our hotel, when \"One is two!\"
