Accepting Credit Cards

Started November 15, 2002 · 6,138 views · 6 posts
I just heard a ugly rumor and hope someone can tell me it is not true.
Effective Nov. 1st, the restaurants in PV are no longer accepting credit cards. (?) Now, I realize this seems far fetched and I had heard some places had trouble right after the hurricane but surely that is not a policy they are continuing with.
We have a large group coming down for a wedding over the Thanksgiving holiday and will need to let everyone know if this is the case.
Thanks

Re:Accepting Credit Cards
Yes, it is true and has nothing to do with the hurricane (this was planned prior to Kennas visit!). It has to do with high interest rates charged to merchants and the length of time for them to receive payment. I am not sure of ALL restaurants are going along with this or not but lots are. Plentiful ATM machines and travellers checks are widely accepted (and safer to use).
Re:Accepting Credit Cards
Just returned from P.V. We used our credit card at Portobello Restaurant and in the store at The Dolphin Center. I think only some places are boycotting.
Re:Accepting Credit Cards
Just got back from PV on 11/23. We needlessly brought alot of cash. Everywhere we shopped and ate accepted credit cards. And we were all over the area. No problems! The press release was very misleading and not accurate.
