Are these restaurants still great??

Started May 28, 2004 · 9,335 views · 8 posts
My husband & are heading to PV in July for a few days R&R. Our favorite restaurants are Cafe de Olla, La Piazzetta and El Panarama for dinner and Mr Cream each day for breakfast (we stay in the Marina area). It has been two years since we last visited and I am wondering if these choices are still good?? We are only staying four nights so we plan to hit each one once. Any suggestions for our fourth night - good food, fun atmosphere, moderately priced?

We had dinner at Piazetta in Old Town. We found it quite good. The service was a bit slow but they were very busy. The food was excellent... along with their margs.

Even better for authentic Mexican food is El Arrayan, Allende #344 on the corner of Miramar. Downtown.

I would highly recommend Los Carmalitas, which is on top of the mountain, above town. You have to take a taxi there and the road is so steep, that they will wait for you while you eat. They have undoubtebly the biggest shrimp I have ever seen, about $15.00 American. It is a very rustic place, the only electricity they have is by generator behind the restaurant, but the food is phenominal. We have a condo at Paradise Village and have made many friends there over the years, and all of the natives highly recommend this place. Another is Meson Bay on the beach in Bucerias. You can ride the bus there, but is faster and easier to take a taxi. Again the shrimp is great as is the Mexican food. It is owned by a former waiter at Paradise Vilage aand comes highly recommended. One more, La Dolce Vida on the Malecon is a great Italian place. We have eaten there for years and the food is always good

la piazetta is a fun little place to go to. i had an appetizer of calamari, and then a small pizza. my wife and son had some pasta. it is fun to sit there and people watch. a nice place to spend part of an afternoon. the other places we have not been to. i love p.v.

I have to speak up and say I love the enchiladas at Cafe de Olla and the Mexican combo BBQ, plus the tortilla soup. La Piazetta is one of my fave low-key spots, good pizza, pasta, fair prices, great people-watching location. Say Hi to Leo from Gary [next door at Cyber Smoothie]. I have not been to El Panorama for a couple years but heard it was starting to regain its past glow. Let us know if you return. I prefer River Cafe for the best night on the town, regardless of price. Beautiful, fabulous!
