Re:Cheap eats?
You can eat at the taco stands. There is one on Francisco Villa that is great, and you get a taco for 4.5 pesos each. some of the small neighborhood restaurants are good as well as cheap. You have to get out of the center to find them.

Re:Cheap eats?
Don´t be scared to go off the beaten track. The tourist areas are always pricey for everything. Gigante ( the supermarket ) on Hotel row has good, cheap food in the cafeteria. Nice selection too.
Re:Cheap eats?
I´ve noticed that some of the restaurants have put their prices down (slightly) since the high season, so that´s a good thing. A great place to eat buffet style is called ¨Josephino´s¨ on the main road before the tunnel ( Libriamiento). On the opposite side of the street from the hotels ´Continental Plaza´, & ´Las Palmas´ You can´t miss it. All you can eat for 58 pesos. Free refils too. At the current rate that´s about $6. The Outback steak house is great too. A bit pricey for some things, but if you go on a Mon. Tues or Wed. you get a steak dinner with soup or salad, free 1 beer or 1 soda for 120 pesos $12. The steak is very tasty and filling. It´s worth the visit. Try the happy chicken eateries too. They´re very good and cheap. ´A page in the sun´, second location, not the one in Olas Altas, ( that one´s good too ) but this one is just north of where Woolworth is, close to the square. You can get chicken nuggets, chips, salad & veggies for 32 pesos. Less than $4. Great coffee and freshly baked cake in there too. Also a huge used bookstore. Homemade soups are delicious.

The happy Chicken is good value for money.

Our favorite is CHILIES in old town just ask around taxi drivers will direct you in the right direction up olas altas from Andales Restraunt the best late night place to be. You can buy a whole chicken and 2 beers for about $8 more than enough for 2. Hank and Conrad live in Oregon and I think they reopen in September. Andales has a good drink special at the bar for around $2. That price was raised 3 times in 3 months from 12 pesos to 18 when we came home in April. They also have great prices on there breakfest and lunch. Tell Hector hello from Doug and Cathy at Andales. The donkey shows are from about 10 pm Have fun
