Re:Great Sports Bar
I recall El Torito had that 100 peso minimum to sit at table and watch the sports, is that still the case??
Re:Great Sports Bar
They only have a cover charge for big games. Makes sense as they need the tables for customers who do want to drink and dine and watch sports, versus one person nursing a beer for an entire football game.

I have watched several Monday night football and MLB world series games at El Torito, and have never been asked for a cover. I have also seen it during big football matches (soccer), where you could not get another customer in the place, and that is when I think they enforce the 100ps minimum.

And besides, how hard is it to spend 100ps in a bar/restaurant during the span of a game? Whatcha drinking, water?
Re:Great Sports Bar
Whitey , since your wife brings her own bottle a 100 peso corkage fee would be considered a deal in these locales. :) I seem to remember free salsa and nachos on the tables at El Torito. Another friend from Brendas board reported the staff tuned in Survivor for her -so its not just a sports bar (well maybe but the staff is accomodating) . When we were at El Torito the waiter asked us where we were from- when we replied Canada- he immediately changed the channel to an NHL game (Oct 2003) .

No more hockey Smitty. And who says better half is a wife, anyway??
Re:Great Sports Bar
Good one Whitey- truth be told that SpongeBob is a pretty funny guy. The hockey reference was from our 2003 trip- we never got around to visiting El Torito this vacation.
Re:Great Sports Bar

Reference to no hockey was the strike impass...really sad. Later, Whitey
