Worth the price for a romantic, delicious meal. Try to get a table on the sand just before sunset...so worth it.

Re:La Palapa restaurant
Personally, I think the La Palapa is over rated. Much prefer the Coco Tropical just down the beach. Food is good and better prices, although the food presentation is not as good. For what thats worth.
Re:La Palapa restaurant
Came back from PV last week...Coco Tropical was not open in the evenings. Closed for the season??? You may want to try Langostinos, located just steps north of Los Muertos pier, good food reasonbly priced.
Re:La Palapa restaurant
Langostinos has an excellent menu and also offers a table on the beach with torches, at a fraction of La Palapa price.
El Arrayan, a new restaurant on Calle Allende, is taking over the mantle of offering tradition Mexican cuisine, and they also have more than the 9 tables that the Red Cabbage offers.
Re:La Palapa restaurant
just got back, I must say that the tuna at la palapa was probably the best I have ever had.

Me and my fiance enjoyed it so much, sitting on the beach while the sun set. They had a good band playing also, not like mariachi but like a soothing romantic cover band (if you can picture that), they played some bob marley and some eric clapton.

it was pricy, our bill was about 97 USD, but well worth it, we easily pay that here for food and atmosphere that is not even close
Re:La Palapa restaurant
My hubby and I ate there about 2 years ago and the food was ok...nothing special and when we got our bill the bottle of wine was outragous for a cheap bottle. When we inquired about the price of the bottle, the waiter told us that most of their wine is listed by the bottle as far as price except for the one we chose which was supposedly listed by the glass. on their menu....We didnt argue and paid way too much for a bottle of wine that was very cheap .....yes it is nice and on the beach but I got better food at the restaraunt/bar in front of the peir!
Re:La Palapa restaurant
I do not drink alcohol, so have not had that experience with the overpriced bottle. But, the food and service has been wonderful I would say 9/10 times I have last eaten there. When we stayed at a condo there, we got a discount, which I thought was very nice and seemed they paid extra attention to us. Maybe they knew our owner???

But, for beach romance, feet in sand, sun going down, lights coming on, who cannot say La Palapa is not gorgeous? Hey, stop by for a snack late or a drink. They have marvelous entertainment...ask or call first. A fine slice of OldTown!
