Many people on this board have talked about the Blue Shrimp and have stated that it is a little pricey. What does a typical dinner cost there? I have never been to PV before, love shrimp and am leaving in 7 days....
So how expensive is expensive????????

There are many other shrimp places in PV not just the pricey/touristy Blue shrimp even though they are good. The Precidencia does 1 kilo of shrimp ( noon to 7pm ) for 90 pesos for a whole kilo thats around $8 USD. Precidencia is just around the corner from Mc Donalds malecon.

We have reservations here for March 19. APPROXIMATELY how much would the meal cost if we had popcorn shrimp for a starter, 2 salads, and no coconut shrimp meals. Throw in a corona and a pina colada (or something similar) and maybe a dessert to share. Anyone have a guess in USD????? We leave for PV on March 17!!!!

I really need to proof read before I post........I meant 2 coconut shrimp meals (not NO!!).......and I am referring to The Blue Shrimp......(see post right before this one)

Sorry no clue..We were sold on the gut buster platter. Price depends on the weight of shrimp ordered in kilos or parts of kilos. When you get there they have examples of the amount of shrimp you will get per weight. I think I remember there are about 6 shrimp in 1/4 kilo (1/2lb), these guys are really large and very succulent. The also have really large and tender calamari with two dipping sauces, a must try if you like calamari.

You know there are other fine places in PV that sell shrimp by the kilo at prices more in line with the general tourist. It just so happened that with all the hoopla about the Blue Shrimp on this board we HAD to try it this last time. I will seek a much more inexpensive place next time, but still do not regret our visit to the Blue Shrimp.

i had to bring this old site back up. i love shrimp but have never been to the blue shrimp before.how big are the portions? how good is the calamari? i am not really too worried about the $ as long as i am happy with my meal. obviously if chuck was full when he left the restaurant it must have been pretty good.

MM, the calamari was some of the most tender and moist I have ever had, and the two dipping sauces were outragious. Just writing obout this now is killing me, especilally since I am at work in the hospital and our cafeteria sucks badly.

But there are so many restaurants, away from the main tourist strip downtown, especially on the south side where you can get tastier shrimp for far less pesos. Marisco Polo for one, El Brujo for another.

I must add, the hostesses were eye candy, just about as tastey as our meal. }>
