Hola - First what is IMHO? Anyway, the Blue Shrimp sells their shrimp by the kilo with 1-4 kilo being sufficient for one person (you will be full!) 1-2 kilo you will feel like you will explode and 1 kilo you will explode. You can split a kilo with several people. then you also have to make the decision if you want medium or jumbo - they are prawns and are quite large regardless!

 Just back from PV, dined at the BLUE SHRIMP.
Shrimps were great, but total meal way too expensive.

Two 1/4 pound shrimp (both of us were still hungry)
Two beer
One Margarita
Small side of garlic bread
One coffee(cup of boiling water, and bottle of decaf SANKA!!! )
444 pesos--over 80 $ canadian.

Sas, one small correction, the shrimp are flown in, probably from Guaymas. The only local shrimp are from the estuary areas and are not what you are getting in the restaurants.

Thursday the 13th of Dec i checked out the going prices of shrimp and lobster at the fish market by Rizzos market, all places quoted me the same prices for everyting, found out one rich guy controls them all Large shrimp`were 160 pesos per kilo lobster regardles of size were 100 pesos per kilo average 2 per kilo. Get up early and head to ´Boca and buy right off the fishing boats. Have fun Doug .

I have a menu infront of me right now. We went to pto. Vallarta Nov. 24- Dec 1st and the shrimp prices at that time was:

Medium Shrimp 1/4 Kg $160 peso, 1/2 Kg $320, 1 Kg $640

Jumbo Shrimp 1/4 Kg $198 peso, 1/2 Kg $400, 1 Kg $800

The food was excellent. Yes it seems a little pricey but the atmosphere was well worth the cost as was the staff.

Yes, true, you can go to the fish market and buy the shrimps, fish and lobster - very fresh and great! But remember you will have to clean them, (shrimps anyway) de-vein them, take off the heads, etc. I personally am too lazy to do this and like to have them come headless. Either way you do it, enjoy!
