How good is your Spanish?
There is the Los Mangos public library right of Fco.Villa but the English section is pretty well used so not a lot to chose from, although they do have some great exhibits, art shows and movies. Since this is Mexico, most books are in Spanish. I guess I would say the amount of English books here would be similar to the amout of Spanish or French books in a library in a city in the States of about 300,000 people.
There is Page in the Sun on Olas Altas where you can buy used books and a new bookstore featuring English books called The Book Store. Carranza #334- Phone 223-9437. Tom can order books for you as well, takes about 10-14 days and only about a dollar more than the list price. (normally they are a good 25-30% more for new books and magazines here in Vallarta)
All of these places are south of the Rio Cuale, about 7 to 12 blocks from the Virgin de Guadalupe church. Nuevo Vallarta does not have a lot of choices when it comes to shopping etc. like Puerto Vallarta does, so you will need to come down this way for best selection.
Many hotels have an area with books people left behind to exchange as well.
