today after contacting our travel agent with yet another question, she informed me that all purchashes have to be paid for with Pesos, no matter how small,WHAT !!
any one have any more info !!??

Hi and thanks for your replies !!
Charlieb, Huuum Iam in Mexico and they use Pesos ! really ?
If a Mexican came to Canada and tried to use Pesos it could be a problem for them as trying to find a store/business to accept them would be in the nil range !! BUT unless Iam mistaken Mexico did/ does accept USD , so you are saying that they do not accept the USD any more ?
katnsocal,Thank you what you said is what we heard on the news, there will be a 100.00 cash limit on purchases(but the balance can be put on CC)also thanks for the tip on alerting bank/credit cards, will do that today, once again Thank You for the info !!
EE Gad !!, all I did was ask about what our travel agent had told us !! I did not realize that by doing so it would make me \"Ethocentric\",we have never been to PV and have been told that the USD is the way to go, in no way shape or form do my Husband or myself think of ourselves as being SUPERIOR to any one !!,Thanks for letting me know that in the smaller out laying areas they do not accept USD,I did not know that and I guess it makes me ignorant but in no way \"Ethocentric\"!!

katnsocal,Thanks for the positive info,
Have a great day !! :D

Update on Airport Pesos vs dollars
The airport will still accept US dollars at the taxi booths, shops and restaurants.

It is the airline ticketing counters that will not accept anything but pesos or credit cards.
This was an update on the airport charges (thus the title) since it is a Federal entity and only pesos or credit cards area allowed for airline fees. The taxis are Federal also but allow US dollars, as do the restaurants and shops even though they are located in the airport. It all had to do with it being located on Federal Property, not how much you can spend in US dollars.
Pesos vs Dollars
Just got back last night after 3 weeks in PV. I had no problems with dollars in PV. I had to wait until Monday to get to the bank (arrived on Sat after the bank was closed). The taxi driver took dollars on Sunday as did the bars and restaurant. On Monday I went to the bank and used pesos 99.9% of the time. I used dollars one more time for a taxi driver that had no change for a 200 peso bill. This was the first time I sent money down to myself through Bank of America. Picked it up Monday morning at Santandar Bank in pesos and it was no problem at all. It worked great, I just kept the money locked in my room safe.
