Sorry to interrupt, but the most of the beachtvendors do NOT sell real silver. What they sell is Alpaca, wich looks very very similar. If they can show their ID it does not mean that they sell REAL silver. Alpaca is even sold with the 925 stamp in it. Only .925 does not even mean that it is the real stuff. It is not checked by the
government.To check if it is REAL silver, there MUST be a .925 stamp AND a PLATA or STERLING stamp PLUS initiatals of the artists. If one of these thing are not there, then this is not the real silver.
However, Alpaca is nice too, but cheaper and in 20 years you will have lost the color. Futhermore, Mexican Silver should be claened by water and soap only, no chemics. This because the silver is mixed with zink.
I worked a while in Taxco, were the most of the Silver comes from, so I have no doubts...
