Agree, we always but some silver from Fast Eddie who sells by the Crown Paradise and Playa del Oro. Always has the real thing and at a good price for his good customers. We have been seeing him for 4 years now.

Sorry to interrupt, but the most of the beachtvendors do NOT sell real silver. What they sell is Alpaca, wich looks very very similar. If they can show their ID it does not mean that they sell REAL silver. Alpaca is even sold with the 925 stamp in it. Only .925 does not even mean that it is the real stuff. It is not checked by the government.To check if it is REAL silver, there MUST be a .925 stamp AND a PLATA or STERLING stamp PLUS initiatals of the artists. If one of these thing are not there, then this is not the real silver.

However, Alpaca is nice too, but cheaper and in 20 years you will have lost the color. Futhermore, Mexican Silver should be claened by water and soap only, no chemics. This because the silver is mixed with zink.

I worked a while in Taxco, were the most of the Silver comes from, so I have no doubts...

Sorry but you do not know what you are talking about!!!! If mexican silver should only be cleaned with soap and water why do you see the beach vendors cleaning all their jewelry with silver cleaner. You know the Tarni Shield in the black bottle \"Limpiador de plata\" to limpia Y protege. I have been going to PV for 15 years, know a lot of local people who know the real stuff from alpaca and the silver sold on the beach is not ALL alpaca, as you said. As I said before, if the vendors are selling alpaca on the beach they get busted. So you may have worked in Taxco with silver, but that is Taxco not PV. There are dishonest people everywhere in this world so of course there will always be the exception to the rule but to make a blanket statement that all silver sold on the beach is alpaca is not the truth.

And by the way, about 8 or 9 years ago I found a piece of jewelry in one of the jewelry stores on the malecon, it was not stamped 925 and I questioned the salesperson, who promply told me, \"well I will stamp it for you\". Hence my statement above about dishonest people.

On the south side, we always stop and see Roberto. He has a stand just south of Burros Bar in between the park and the beach. He has some interesting silver pieces, but if you are also buying inexpensive trinkets to take home, he has alpaca and will tell you which pieces are real or not.

The other regular silver stop for us is Los Arcos Plateria, just south of the Malecon on Moreles.

they use silverclaening because it might be I\"talian Silver\". Italian Silver is mixed with tin, not zink as mexican silver. Tin gets black so needs to be polished with silverclean stuff. Zink is white and will stay white and onece agian, should only be polished with soap and water. If you want to clean it with silverpolish, go ahaed, but it is a wate of money. And PLEASE do not say that i do not know what i am talking about, since I DO. Just watch the 3 stamps, with only one missing, yes, you can make sure it is not the real stuff, whether you buy it with in a store or on the beach. And here it might not be Taxco, but wath you probably do not know that 99% of the mexican silver wich is sold, comes from taxco.....

Be savey...If the deal is too good to be true, like someone trying to sell you 10 silver bracelets for $30usd????? My experience has been with the same venors 2-3 times a year for the last 5 years. Quality silver, blankets, carvings, pottery all for what I believe to be a fare price. I see these same guys every time and continue to do buisness with them. Just pay a little attention to what goes on on the beach and you will soon find out who has the right stuff.
