canopy tree top

I am going to PV on Sat. and we plan on doing the canopy tree top tour. From reading other posts, it seems the los verdes south tour is the best. My question is, do you need to wear long pants to avoid bugs or are shorts and bug spray ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Our friends wore shorts and had some good bug spray with them. And they had a blast... but then again JC is a scout master with a son that is an Eagle Scout, it was like old home in the trees for him... YIKES...
