My wife and I will be at Paradise Village for 2 weeks starting Jan. 28th. and are considering a side trip by bus to Melaque/Barra de Navidad or maybe Rincon de Guayabitos. Probably worth an overnight in an inexpensive hotel and return the next day. Anyone have any insight on this? Where to get the bus? Cost? Recommended hotels? Must-dos while there? Snorkeling? Which is furthest from Nuevo? Any info on this would be appreciated!

If you are staying in a PV hotel already, it is a short enough trip to be back home all in one day. Make sure that you find out what time the last bus leaves La Pinita. The bus trip itself is a great panarama of the coast into the mountains.
There are lots of fishing boats offering trips to the island for snorkeling but make sure that they put you ashore first. We went diving in a Panga and had to crawl back in over the side and got all cut up on the barnacles. A rope ladder would have helped. Try any of the beachside resturaunts, we tried several and were satisfied but not overly impressed.
