Snorkeling for beginners

Started January 5, 2006 · 5,203 views · 3 posts
Hi, I am trying to decide on what tour to book. I have never been snorkeling before, and want to go where the water is somewhat clear. Some of the places I am thinking are 1) Las Caletas, 2) Marietas, 3) Los Arcos, Las Animas, Quimixto, 4) Yelapa 5) Chicos

Any suggestions? Also, do I need to rent or buy equipment, or will it normally be furnished by tour operators? Lastly, what happens if I book, and then the weather turns out nasty? Can I cancel? When I was in PV 2 years ago, it rained and was overcast every day.

Thanks for your help.

just about all of your tours by boat offer snorkel even supplying you w/everything even life vest
we have also found that the tour boats have all that you need for snorkeling. we have snorkeled in some of the areas you mention and we felt that some of the water current around mariettas was a little strong. not that we were ever in any danger but it could be a little spooky in some areas for a 1st timer. i would suggest that if you have time do a tour to one of the areas you mentioned, that would be great, but also if you have time strike up a deal with a panga owner at mismaloya one day to take you out to los arcos for an hour or so. this way you could experience 2 areas and only do 1 tour. in any case....enjoy!
