Underwater cameras

We have always used Fuji underwater cameras in the past and have been very pleased. We used them again in February in the Dominican Republic and the pictures were fantastic. Perhaps the camera went through the x-ray machine at the airport. The film in those cameras is 800 speed usually and too much exposure to x-ray can fog the film and ruin the pictures. Always ask that your film and disposible cameras be hand inspected!

If Film gets too much airport X-Ray (and it is cumulative) the pix will be foggy. The monotone/blue is natural because the water acts as a filter and allows more blue color than other colors and hence objects in the ocean will have a blue/monotone hue. The deeper from the surface you go the more pronounced this is. In order to get a better color balance, a filter that cuts down on blue light is used. I believe Kodak might incorporate an inexpensive blue built in filter to get a more balanced color spread. Chuck
